Ludhiana, February 10, 2026 (Tarkeshwar Sharma): The alumni of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), in a heart-warming gesture of solidarity with the flood-affected farming families in Punjab, have donated Rs 25.0 lakh to the Alumni Association Fund for providing financial support to these rain-hit families. The major contributions to this fund have been made by Dr Gurcharan Singh Dhillon, Regional Director, USDA (Retd) and his wife Dr Nancy Dhillon (Rs 13.0 lakh), and PAU Alumni, Australia (Rs 11.84 lakh). This fund has been disbursed to provide financial support of Rs 25,000/- per family to 100 flood-affected families in six districts of Punjab - Amritsar, Fazilka, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Ferozepur.
“This compassionate act of PAU-Alumni reflects not only generosity, but also a deep sense of responsibility towards our farming community,” said Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice- Chancellor, PAU, while appreciating the large-heartedness of PAU alumni residing in India and abroad. Such acts of generosity not only strengthen the bond between the University and its alumni but also reaffirm their dedication to support farmers in times of need, observed Dr Gosal. The PAU VC lauded alumni for thinking about the welfare of Punjab in general and of farmers in particular.
Dr Charanjit Singh Aulakh, Dean and President of the Alumni Association, expressed gratitude to the alumni for this noble initiative, which reflected the deep commitment of PAU alumni towards the welfare of the farming community in Punjab. He also thanked Dr Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education and his team, for providing help to disburse the funds to needy flood-affected families.
